Jeff Jackel is a creative entrepreneur with a decade of experience creating and building successful businesses and brands. After graduating with a degree in Film Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Jeff produced several award-winning short films and gained experience working multiple roles in feature film development at Los Angeles-based movie studios and production companies.
At 23, Jeff pitched a concept for branded entertainment to industry leader marketing and branding firm, BrightHouse, in Atlanta, GA. Locking a partnership with the “worlds first Ideation Corporation” and it’s founder, Jeff launched the branded-entertainment company BrightHouse Pictures, which would seek to build brand-integrated feature and television properties with BrightHouse’s tier 1 clients like Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, and Home Depot. Jeff fell in love with the world of marketing and branding, and soon discovered that his interest in producing films was really a broad and instinctive entrepreneurial passion for creating and building new projects from scratch.
Jeff’s interests turned toward the apparel industry and he set out to launch the apparel brand, Hozell Clothing, with a long time friend. Apparel was in Jeff’s blood as his father had run some of the biggest Southern California clothing companies like Hang Ten, Sideout, and Ocean Pacific throughout the 80s and 90s, and Jeff had spent time working and learning in the design rooms of each of the influential companies. With a reinvigorated focus on graphic art and apparel design, and a rich background in media, creative branding, and business development, Jeff helped grow Hozell into a successful, international brand. Hozell Clothing is now available in boutiques and department stores all over the world, including Fred Segal, Urban Outfitters, Barneys New York, and Bloomingdales.
Today, Jeff maintains his role as creative director of Hozell Clothing while constantly freelancing and consulting on a myriad of compelling projects. Jeff works independently and collaboratively through his private creative firm, Marker Studios, in the capacities of brand consultancy, creative marketing, apparel and graphic design, and new media. But don’t be surprised if the itch to start another company soon gets scratched!
